Paasand: a community that shows up.
Paasand is House of Pakistan's community care initiative. It carries forward the heart of our work: taking care of each other.
In San Diego
COVID-19 response (2020). When the pandemic hit, Paasand volunteers organized food and medicine delivery and financial help for community members in need, with guidance from volunteer physicians. Local restaurants Tikka Lounge and Charminar provided halal meals for elders facing financial hardship.
Everyday support. We help Pakistani students new to San Diego find their footing, connect single mothers with resources and community, and create earning opportunities for women through our bazaars. VERIFY W-02/W-25: which are active today
With Pakistan
Pakistani Americans have always stood with Pakistan in hard times. After the catastrophic 2022 floods, our community rallied to support recovery. In January 2023, our founder traveled to Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad to meet education and development leaders and to support the adoption of government schools in Karachi, working with Sindh's School Education & Literacy Department.
